Star News: RM8bil water treatment plant to be built in Bukit Serdang

A RM8bil Langat 2 water treatment plant will be built on a 9ha site in Bukit Serdang to cater to the Klang Valley and Putrajaya consumers.

The Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) will issue the development order, however, it is not known when the project is expected to start.

The council will discuss with the parties involved in the project and a final announcement will be made by council president Datuk Adnan Md Ikshan on Dec 17.

The project will be discussed in detail during the council’s One-Stop Centre (OSC) meeting to be held a week before the announcement.

Councillor Tai Cheng Heng, who briefed reporters on the project, said the water treatment plant was being built in anticipation of the water crisis in 2013.

Tai said the site was a former Malay Reserve Land and was now owned by 14 people.

“So far the authorities had acquired 12 plots and they’re expected to acquire the remaining two by the end of the year,’’ said Tai.

Meanwhile, the authorities are concerned that the development may affect the landscape of the area as it involved placing huge water distribution pipes.

“As for the nearby residents, they are not aware of the project yet.

“Since it is a project that will benefit them in the long run, hopefully there will not be any objection,’’ said Tai.

Once completed, the plant is expected to process one million litres per day for for residents in the Klang Valley and Putrajaya.

Those who want to know more about the project, could e-mail their questions to mpsj.gov.my

Au said:-

Sacrifices shall be made if development is needed, but must be sustainable, and detrimental impacts to the environment shall be minimal.
I would say that only areas mapped for that Seri Kembangan water reservoir is required to be developed, and would be as green as practical.

The water reservoir in our area will receive treated water from one of the treatment plant in Selangor, by getting the supply from one of the state in Peninsular. Pipes are new, with new trunking, and everyone can expect better quality water. This project is for the benefit of the public, so why worry?

People should worry more about abandoned projects, leaving devastating conditions such as what happened in Bukit Antarabangsa, oversupply of commercial and housing development, steep hill projects which do not fully comply to development requirements and etc. All these need a lot more land, falling of more trees, and pose a more dangerous situation to the public compare to this reservoir.

Talking about already crowded Bukit Serdang and making the place less trees but more concrete, then why Bayan Villa is here, and we purchased our dream home? It doesnt serve the purpose publicly but only to certain population and it requires more land compare to a small area for the reservoir but serve the whole area of Serdang?

The location, is somewhere away from housing areas, away from the narrow streets and crowded areas.

By the way, I’m not in anyway connected to this project, as consultant or contractor.

I hope that means, more trees / reserved land to the already packed serdang.. :)

errrr….i’m going into panic mode now….i dont really understand, but does this construction affect our place, i mean, as in like, we have to suffer inhaling all those smokes n dust during construction when the lorry passes by or errr how??? omg…

  • chafoo says:

perrin, you’ve pushed panic button by mistake. Au said that the location is somewhere away from housing areas. And I cant think of a reason why would such lorries drive thru bayan villa (unless there’s a secret tunnel which I’m not aware of).

  • perrin says:

hahahahah okok, thanks a lot! phewwwwww. so takut they somehow wanna pass by our area pulak.

  • Calvin Leong says:

yey.. We’re gonna get our keys today!!!

Let’s see how long before Sam figured out that the date is due again, and again, and again….

  • patty says:

    Hi calvin,

What sam means completion date is the completion of the buiding itself..not getting the key or CF …But the siatuation now it seem uncomplete yet and we might need to wait for little while more..so we all have to stay positif and this can’t be rush also.:)Don’t be upset oh! cheers.

  • Calvin Leong says:

patty, you could be corrected. I’m in the assumption that we are now in the process of getting CF = (getting possession of your unit). If we are still not there yet, we are screwed.

I believe we are now in the stage of getting “sokong” (refer to “Progress update by Stages” on the Active Topic). My problem is I do not know how far are we. Have we submitted the final approval to MPSJ for their CF?

The final approval itself takes 2 weeks, so from thereon it should be very certain and we should definitely be calling our furniture stores to get ready.

The comments regarding the fixture in some of the units are because they are going around fixing what they deem as defects before we tell them it is a defect. They assure us it shouldn’t affect the CF approval. I think that is commendable as it saves us the trouble of going back and forth telling them their defects here and there.

  • chafoo says:

Calvin, and guys. I’m sorry but IF, the project is about to delay again, there is really nothing “positive” we can do to shorten the delay. So I’ll rather keep my emotion steady and cool.

By the way, as per my understanding, MPSJ will be conducting inspection on the coming 21st for CF application. On my Monday visit, i saw workers cleaning up leafs, walkway fountains, repaving bricks at the main guard house.

Seriously I do not want to complain much, except the cow grass and the no. of airconds that is going to cost me a bomb to cover the already-done piping internally. We have all waited years for this.

Let’s just hope MPSJ play nice on this round.

    Calvin Leong,
I apologize if the Expected Completion has been a confusion to most of you.
I am not going to amend any further on the completion date, we are looking into the handover date now.
Both Au and I met with Miss Yap last two days, we were told that the detention pond has to be completed for CF as it is part of the CF requirements. Both Au and I were shocked to hear about it as we were unaware of it all this while.
Bukit Ikhlas just started to resurface the internal roads on that day, according to Dr. Choo, they take three days to complete it and we are expecting a new surface by this Saturday. If you happen to drop by, I appreciate if you can update us on the internal roads.
I was late for the meeting, I think Au knows better about the progress.
P/S: Please check the next post for updates by Au.

  • clement says:

resurface for the internal road is done but not for road at the guard hse. they are now replacing the red bricks at the guard hse to tar…

  • Sam says:

    clement,
I went to the site in this afternoon. I saw the new interlocking bricks at the guard house, but not tar.
