Star News: RM8bil water treatment plant to be built in Bukit Serdang

A RM8bil Langat 2 water treatment plant will be built on a 9ha site in Bukit Serdang to cater to the Klang Valley and Putrajaya consumers.

The Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) will issue the development order, however, it is not known when the project is expected to start.

The council will discuss with the parties involved in the project and a final announcement will be made by council president Datuk Adnan Md Ikshan on Dec 17.

The project will be discussed in detail during the council’s One-Stop Centre (OSC) meeting to be held a week before the announcement.

Councillor Tai Cheng Heng, who briefed reporters on the project, said the water treatment plant was being built in anticipation of the water crisis in 2013.

Tai said the site was a former Malay Reserve Land and was now owned by 14 people.

“So far the authorities had acquired 12 plots and they’re expected to acquire the remaining two by the end of the year,’’ said Tai.

Meanwhile, the authorities are concerned that the development may affect the landscape of the area as it involved placing huge water distribution pipes.

“As for the nearby residents, they are not aware of the project yet.

“Since it is a project that will benefit them in the long run, hopefully there will not be any objection,’’ said Tai.

Once completed, the plant is expected to process one million litres per day for for residents in the Klang Valley and Putrajaya.

Those who want to know more about the project, could e-mail their questions to mpsj.gov.my

Au said:-

Sacrifices shall be made if development is needed, but must be sustainable, and detrimental impacts to the environment shall be minimal.
I would say that only areas mapped for that Seri Kembangan water reservoir is required to be developed, and would be as green as practical.

The water reservoir in our area will receive treated water from one of the treatment plant in Selangor, by getting the supply from one of the state in Peninsular. Pipes are new, with new trunking, and everyone can expect better quality water. This project is for the benefit of the public, so why worry?

People should worry more about abandoned projects, leaving devastating conditions such as what happened in Bukit Antarabangsa, oversupply of commercial and housing development, steep hill projects which do not fully comply to development requirements and etc. All these need a lot more land, falling of more trees, and pose a more dangerous situation to the public compare to this reservoir.

Talking about already crowded Bukit Serdang and making the place less trees but more concrete, then why Bayan Villa is here, and we purchased our dream home? It doesnt serve the purpose publicly but only to certain population and it requires more land compare to a small area for the reservoir but serve the whole area of Serdang?

The location, is somewhere away from housing areas, away from the narrow streets and crowded areas.

By the way, I’m not in anyway connected to this project, as consultant or contractor.

A brisk update – November 10, 2009

Hi all,
I received a call from Mr. David yesterday, informing me that the roads serving Bayan Villa are ready. The roads he is telling me are the Bukit Ciri and Sun Garden one. He continued, Bukit Ikhlas will be charging us 2(h), which is another 5% of the payment in this month. It is a good news, I suppose. Perhaps I will visit the site later, and take some photographs to show you guys.

By the way, I have added a category “Purchasers’ blogs” on the sidebar. If you have a blog and would like to share with us, please let me know and I can add your blog in.

Update by Purchaser Au – Oct 30, 2009

Calvin Leong, Au and I met with the Bukit Ikhlas management yesterday. Here is purchaser Au’s update on our discussion:-

Dear all,

Bayan Villa is now in the process of QA/QC the units before handing over to the purchasers. They are actually doing the defect works for us, in maintaining high quality of works carried out by their contractors. Broken or smeared tiles, will be replaced with new ones and be assured that this will be completed soon enough as Bayan Villa has employed sufficient workforce to carry out the task.

I’ve briefly checked on the few units on Wednesday (28 Oct), and found that the workforce is diligently doing the rectification works, and no worries for all of us that the quality is up to the standard. It’s also good that they do it now instead of us finding out and later on filling up the defect work forms when we want to move in.

There will be some news on Sam’s blog about commitment given by Bayan Villa some time from now, but please do give time allowance to update the info on his blog.

Regards,
Au

Thanks to Au.
